This consultation has now concluded

The Housing Department have recently undertaken a review of the Grounds Maintenance services offered to our Council Tenants and Leaseholders. We have mapped all Housing Land including blocks, amenity greens, verges, alleyways and utilised garage sites that we are aware of and created a schedule of works required to each area.

The proposed service level agreement and scope, frequency and areas of Grounds Maintenance were presented to Housing Committee on the 17th June where we requested approval to consult with residents on our proposals to the change in service.

As such, we are now consulting with you, our valued Council Tenants and Leaseholders to see if you agree with the frequency of works, and if there are any areas we have missed that we need to include.

In addition, in order to ensure we can deliver the best quality services, this will mean we need to recharge residents for the services as part of your weekly rent or for leaseholders, annual service charges. Historically, we have not charged for this service as we did not feel it was up to standard and there was not set service agreement for us to manage the level of service provided to our valued residents by the Councils in house depot.

The consultation will form 3 parts;

1: The scope, frequency and areas covered

2: Recharges to residents

3: Any other comments or areas of service you wish the Housing Department to look into in the coming years

Once the consultation has closed, the Housing Estates team will review all comments and where able to, implement any suggested changes to the service level agreement.

The new service agreement will then come into effect from April 2025, although work to begin improvements will be done sooner so that we can iron out any teething issues before the new contract with the Council's depot begins.

Any service charges will also be implemented from April 2025 onwards.

We look forward to receiving your responses and working with our residents.
