Rochford District Council is consulting on a a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) to address dangerous and anti-social driving behaviour - such as street racing, car meets, and noise nuisance - in certain locations in the district.
We are undertaking a six-week public consultation where we want to hear from you, as residents, businesses and community groups. Your responses will inform how we take action and help to ensure that whatever action is agreed is measurable, reasonable and supported by the communities affected.
What is a PSPO and why are we consulting on it?
The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 gives councils the power to create PSPOs to impose restrictions in public spaces to target behaviours that have a detrimental effect on the community's lives. These orders are designed to help local authorities and the police respond to persistent problems in a targeted way.
What will this consultation cover?
We are eager to receive your views on:
- Whether you support the introduction of a PSPO
- The impact of vehicle nuisance in your area
- How the recommended restrictions may impact you, or your community

Regardless of whether you are a resident, business owner, or representative from your community, your voice matters. Together, we can help to make Rochford a safer and more harmonious community for all.
